![]() ![]() Here is a deeper look inside the numbers of TechSmith's crowdsourcing effort:ġ0: Minutes it took for TechSmith to implement and complete its branded Get Satisfaction site.ġ0: Months TechSmith's public beta process lasted.ġ00,000: People who downloaded the beta version of Snagit on Mac.ġ20,000: Unique topics about Snagit on Mac generated by users through the Get Satisfaction site.Ĥ50,000: People who engaged in dialogue about Snagit on Mac on the Get Satisfaction site.ĥ00,000: Dollars saved on research that TechSmith did not have to conduct due to the information received through the Get Satisfaction site. It also helped speed the process and aide developers, as they already knew exactly how to approach the development of Snagit on Mac." Meanwhile, TechSmith saved hundreds of thousands of dollars on the research phase of this project. Our users were able to help design the product that they wanted, and could ask questions, report problems, make suggestions and share what they loved about the product. "It benefited everyone involved in the development process, and most importantly, our customers. "We were able to collect so much valuable information through crowdsourcing," Wood said. Developers were able prioritize their plans by using the voting functionality of the Get Satisfaction site to determine which features were most important to users, and also used the discussion forums to seek feedback on the overall design and feel of Snagit on Mac, which users wanted to be 'Mac-like.' TechSmith's use of crowdsourcing enabled it to capture an exceptional amount of information on the features and feel that its users and targeted customer base wanted from Snagit on Mac. This time, we wanted to engage our entire user base in our agile development process." And feedback came in via individual emails, not collaborative conversations. ![]() "Sure, we always had beta software, but it was only accessible to select users - not to the broader public. "We'd never done this before," said Tiffany Wood, Snagit product manager at TechSmith. ![]() TechSmith launched the public beta of Snagit on Mac in December 2009 along with the Get Satisfaction community site. More than 48,000 companies use Get Satisfaction to provide a more social support experience, build better products, increase SEO and improve customer loyalty. Get Satisfaction, an online community-building platform, details the crowdsourcing effort and the return on TechSmith's investment in a case study on its Web site. To do this open up the command prompt and type in the following command: robocopy C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\Techsmith G:\Destination /e /secfix /copyall /b /sl /xj. So TechSmith launched a crowdsourcing initiative on a Get Satisfaction community site to seek ideas and feedback, producing 450,000 participants and $500,000 in research cost savings. User Error.Okemos-based TechSmith says its Snagit screen capture software has been available to PC users for twenty years, so the desire to answer users' top request - Snagit for the Mac platform - required an open dialogue to make Snagit on the Mac worth the wait. FlameShot is perfect for my needs in actuality. The problem I had was assuming that PRT SCRN key would be mapped to FireShot after installation it was not, it's mapped to XFCE4-Screenshooter, which sucks lol. that doesn't require another app launch / import / edit / save.Įdit: Hmmm over on alternative to the screen grab of FlamShot shows all the features I'm looking for as present, but my test caps did NOT have any of these functions.guess I need to find a tutorial. Once you are done editing, click File and select Save As to save your recording as a video (.mp4) or animated GIF image (.gif). Click the PNG icon to open the frame as an image capture, which you can edit or save. Mono One of the most widely used formats out there, mono (meaning one) audio is single channel audio. Saving a video frame as an image Drag the white playhead arrow to display the video frame that you want to save. Theres no separation between the channels. Both speakers sound exactly the same. Stereo recorded to mono playing back through 2 speakers is not Stereo. What I don't like about FlameShot / functionality missing for me:A quick post cap editor that allows me to mark up the cap with boxes / captions, arrows, lines, highlights etc. I suggest you export a video and check it properties. I'll take any alt suggestions if there's something demonstrably better I should consider.īut back to the Snag-IT / ShareX Linux equivalent need. Had to install VokoscreenNG to get Video capture - jury is out on this for me so far, but I tested it & it seemed "OK" for now. I installed Flameshot after trying to figure out a comparable app on my own for a Deb distro and hate it. In WinTel world I extensively use Snag-IT & ShareX for screen caps, both still & video.
